Matador Management Group (MMG) is looking for an experienced Social Media Manager to manage our social media accounts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok) to drive meaningful engagement with our authors and readers.

This is a remote position requiring a self-governing professional and will be evaluated on the basis of targets met, rather than time spent. The perfect candidate for this role is a highly experienced social media management expert with the right instincts, vision and style, who also requires minimal supervision to deliver in a timely fashion.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Social Media Expertise: The ability to use social media to maintain or build a brand is required. The Social Media Manager is expected to regularly post content (text, video and images) that engage our target audience, follow online conversations on our social media accounts, and handle questions and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role. The Social Media Manager must interact with MMG team members, visitors to our website and social media accounts, and ultimately report to the Director of Operations. As an excellent communicator, the Social Media Manager must identify social media trends and events, interesting hashtags, or relevant topics and share appropriate content that aligns with MMG's social media strategy. 
  • Creativity: The perfect candidate for this role must possess the creativity to produce engaging content which aligns with MMG's value proposition, culture, and market position, while keeping users interested and engaged.
  • Initiative: We seek a professional who can take initiative without straying from the path of MMG's value proposition, culture or vision.
  • Familiarity with Relevant Technology: Computer skills, skills in using social media platforms and skills in using tools that analyze social media platforms are requirements for this position.
  • Research: A proven ability to learn and understand both social media trends and real-life trends, identify new social media tools, and find real-time online conversations are necessary for this position. The Social Media Manager must understand the trends and techniques of LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok as well as MMG’s vision for its online presence.
  • Time management: A proven ability to prioritize and organize tasks in order to meet deadlines is essential for this role. The Social Media Manager has to have a time-sensitive approach to managing our accounts and must therefore work within strict schedules to meet marketing and business goals. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all social media accounts are achieving daily meaningful posts (with pre-specified degrees of engagement where necessary)
  • Use social media marketing tools to promote our value proposition and the MMG brand
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to develop social media marketing campaigns
  • Interact with authors, readers and followers via our social media accounts, referring selected communications to management when needed.
  • Contribute to and analyze MMG's digital marketing plan and social media strategy, while identifying strategic weaknesses and making recommendations for improvement
  • Research social media trends and inform management of events and changes which might be relevant to MMG's business interests
  • Meeting and exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media campaigns, such as targets for a certain number of shares or likes and measuring a campaign’s performance against these KPIs

A minimum of three years’ experience in this field is required for eligibility.
